Atomic Bomb Shot

I live in New Orleans, a place where in most restaurants, booze is easier to get than a glass of good unsweet iced tea, and open container laws are practically non-existent. Tales of the Cocktail, (@totc to my Twitter peeps) the city’s annual cocktail-themed mega-event where bartenders, booze-writers, and other aficionados of the hard stuff flock to the French Quarter to attend expensive seminars, happy hours and other spirit-fueled happenings, is coming up in a few days. It’s a fun time for industry peeps and home cocktail-o-philes alike. If you have the cash, it’s definitely worth checking out.

The city’s lifeblood may very well be alcohol, particularly during this city-wide event.

With those thoughts in mind, I found this delightful piece on Modern Drunkard outlining the ins and outs of alcohol during the Atomic Age. It’s a fun look at all things sauce during the Mid-Century.
